The art of not so fine dinning

The art of not so fine dinning

Like all new parents, Katerina and I want to provide Iokasti with everything she needs and requires. This involves food as well. Ever since she started eating solids (a.k.a. not just milk), we’ve started experimenting in the kitchen trying to make rather blunt dishes such as chicken and broccoli, taste better without salt and pepper. Impossible right? Well, at least we try…

Baby food preparation is not an easy task. It takes as much time as a “grown-up” meal, plus the time required for mushing everything together into a delicious (sick) paste. ingredients are even more important here than regular food if you ought to make it tasty and consumable. Therefore, it requires meticulous planning and preparation.

Earlier this year I decided I needed to capture the process of ingredient selection, preparation, cooking, and consumption.

The video was filmed in just under 40 minutes. That was the time I had to spare while Iokasti was sleeping in the background. Once she was up, there was only a limited number of actions I could take, mainly filming the end scenes - a.k.a. feeding her. I used a single lens to capture most of the footage and only changed lenses briefly for a couple of macro shots.

It’s the best job I could have done in the limited space and time I had, but it felt great getting back to it after a long time. For a few minutes there I felt creative again. Would have I done a better job preparing or even filming more cinematic shots if I had all the time I needed? Perhaps. Perhaps not. As I said I’m happy with the outcome, considering, but I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section, either here, or on YouTube.

Till next time…
