I missed you…

I missed you…

Us humans, from nature, we are designed to be surrounded by other people. Don’t get me wrong, we all need our space and time for ourselves, but soon, we seek the company of others. More specifically, the company of the people we love. We grow up in packs (families), we explore the world in packs (friends) and we eventually build our own pack (kids). It’s only natural that we choose someone to accompany us in our journey through life.

Katerina and I began our journey more than 6 years ago. And in this journey, the times that we had to be apart are very few. It’s only natural that we both felt strange when work asked me to spend two weeks at the capital of the lone star state, while Katerina was enjoying the sun in Greece.

I was initially excited about my trip to Austin, Texas, since it’s a place I never visited before, but a couple of days went on, and I started seeking the company of Katerina. I was eager for the trip to be over, jump on a couple of planes, get a boat and spend quality time with my wife. At that moment, I came up with an idea for a travel video.

Half a world apart” is a story of two people that can’t wait to meet each other again. I wanted to capture the contrast between the two worlds, the long trip ahead before the two met again, and their happiness when they eventually reunited.

My objective was to capture those raw feelings both of us had leading up to the time we reunited and the lengths and obstacle someone will overcome to reconnect with it’s other half; it’s mini-pack.

Watching this video back and remembering all the back stage preparation, I remember the excitement I had in the though if meeting Katerina again, and the feelings which I wanted to express in the video.

The one thing I wish for the future is to relive the same feelings in future trips. Because spending time apart is inevitable, but missing your other half is a testament of a person’s need and will to be with its other half.
