Day 14: Product photography crash course
Product photography is probably a style I will not pursue as much in the future. Maybe if I'm ever asked to do a wedding or a family gathering (Yes! I'd do weddings).
The main reason is that it doesn't really appeal to me as much. Not my favourite topic.
That said, product photography can teach you so much about general photography. Trying to get a nice product picture that shouts 'BUY ME' helped me understand more about camera position, depth of field, manual focus, scene composition, flash photography, lighting, and angling.
I was back on the coffee beans. Did I mention how much I love coffee?
The above picture is the result of more than 1 hour of work. I'm not a professional photographer after all, and I wanted to explore different perspectives. I also wanted to create a complementary to the product and aesthetically pleasing composition.
I played with different ISO, flash speeds and lenses to get different results. My objective was to include the packaging as well as the actual product and the end result.
Maybe it's not the best picture I snapped during this journey, and possibly the product doesn't scream 'BUY ME', but I couldn't wait to drink the coffee afterward!!
