For those moments in life...

For those moments in life...

If you don’t already know this about me, I work in marketing. More specifically, in digital advertising. However, I’m not fond of the extended holiday season more traditional advertisers impose on us. I despise seeing Halloween decorations at storefronts in late August, and Christmas lights on the streets in early October. After all, Christmas is in December. But all that changed since I met my wife.

You see, she holds on to a tradition to decorate the house on her name day (big Greek, religious celebration. Look it up.). That’s on November 25. The first year, it felt kind of weird to me. But since, it has become a tradition I hold dear to my heart.

On that day, we put up the Christmas tree, decorate the house and bake traditional delicacies from the motherland all while listening to Christmas songs. What’s special about this day, is that it signifies the beginning of Christmas celebrations for our home. It makes my wife feel special on her name day and puts a smile on her face.

You see, the older we grow, the less time we have. Time flies. Years go past without us realising the importance of all the little things and moments in life. Moments that we don’t often realise are those that make our lives all the more special. Like spending time with our loved ones during the holidays, or on their special days, sharing a few laughs and smiles along the way.

It’s for those reasons I don’t turn grumpy the moment I see Christmas decorations in the streets of London. As soon as the decorations make their appearance, I know an important day for our lives is due soon, making me feel even more excited.

This year, in order to make sure we always remember to cherish those moments, we decided to make a short video about that special day. I know you’ll immediately think that I used this excuse to get away from decorating the tree myself. But the truth is that I did my part this year.

Proof that I did my part…

Even if it meant that “it had to be redone because you don’t know how to make it look nice.”

Happy holidays everyone! Make sure you take a step back and think of all the great moments you shared with your loved ones this year!

Till next time…
