Day 6 is all about finding surfaces or objects with a high specular value to compose your shot. This ranges from water to a polished car, to shiny stone or anything that reflects light.
I consider this day two of the soft-light/hard-light challenge. Again, my task is clear. Capture your subject under clear skies, when the sun is high up in the sky, the daylight is washed out, and the shadows are deep black.
With self-portrait and stop-motion photography out the way, I opted in for yet another challenge.
The challenge was clear. “Use clouds as your natural softbox to capture more of your subject’s tones.” Challenge accepted!
Wait, what? Stopping motion? I guess today we’re going deeper into creative photography. How on earth am I going to make a moving object stop?
Chances are unless you’re a model, you feel as intimidated and awkward when posing in front of a lens as I do. You can imagine my initial reaction when asked to do a self-portrait for the second day of the challenge.
To set the record straight, I did not come up with the photo challenge myself. At the end of the day I want to improve my skills and learn new techniques, so I did my research and found a challenge that would best suit my daily schedule, since I work full time in AdTech, and challenge me to go the extra mile.
